November 17, 2020 To All BMS Employees It was March 12th when we first started communicating about this new ‘thing’ called COVID-19. At that time, we had no idea that over eight months later the precautions we started taking against this ugly little virus would still be our main focus today. Yet not only is it still our main focus but its impact seems to be growing every day.... Recently we’ve had some news about two types of vaccines that are close to being approved, and that is very encouraging, but it will still be a long time before either of those vaccines become widely distributed. Since COVID-19 is still with us, it’s important to remember that now is not the time to let our guard down. We need to make sure to continue with all the safety measures we’ve been practicing, perhaps even more so now than when things began. After many months you may be getting tired of following safety measures like using hand sanitizer, frequent hand washing throughout the day and refraining from face touching, but by following those measures at work, at home and when out in public you have the best chance of avoiding being infected yourself and can best avoid infecting others. So please continue to be diligent in following all those personal protection measures. Be assured that BMS will also continue to be diligent with their proactive efforts like requiring the use of hand sanitizer for all Employees, providing and encouraging the use of masks for all those who want them, and taking any needed extra sanitization steps. We also want to make sure we’re addressing all your concerns as rapidly as possible so please inform your Supervisor or HR personnel of any concerns so they can be addressed. One of the most important and simplest safety measures is to continue to self-monitor your own health. If you do have, or suspect you have, any symptoms that could be COVID-19 related you must contact your Supervisor or HR personnel as soon as possible for advice on how to best handle your situation. As we’re now entering the flu season and symptoms may be similar, if there’s any question we want to make sure and err on the side of caution. The bottom line is that COVID-19 is still with us and we need to continue to make every effort to stay safe. You, your family and those you work with are all important.
