You've heard it before- "the grass ain’t always greener on the other side". We see pictures on social media of friends on vacation or we look at others at the gym or magazine covers at the grocery store and wish we had their body. We constantly compare ourselves to others often feeling disappointed and discouraged.... Don’t forget to give yourself credit for what you have accomplished. In regards to your fitness, think about what you’ve accomplished this past year. Think about where you are in comparison to 6 or 12 months ago. When you look at things every day, it’s hard to see progress because it happens gradually. Make sure every now and then you take a step back, look at the big picture & give yourself credit for your hard work & effort! #fitnesstip #TuesdayTip #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation

Should you workout when injuried? Maybe. Maybe not. It certainly varies based on the injury but here's one thing you should consider...

Years ago I loved drinking beer. When I got tired of looking like the Michelin Man, I made a decision come hell or high water, I HAD to do 10 minutes of cardio for every beer I drank. This 1) motivated me to drink less because I would rather shove an ice pick in my eye than spend extra time on a treadmill and 2) helped offset some of the calories I was consuming. Maybe beer and ice picks aren't your thing, but you can still apply this to help make better decisions.... If you need to drink more water, make a rule that you have to drink 16 oz of water before you reach for the coffee you crave in the morning. If you struggle to workout consistently, make a "no TV rule" until you’ve completed your workout for the day. MORAL OF THE STORY: Where in your routine can you tie what you WANT to what you NEED? It doesn’t have to be the perfect solution, it just has to move you closer to your destination! #fitnesstip #TuesdayTip #fitnessjourney #fitnessmotivation

Take mental breaks Our brain can get exhausted just like our body. If you’re feeling run down halfway through the day, call a timeout and find a quiet place where you can disconnect for ~20 minutes, device free. As someone that runs 1,000 miles per hour all day long, I can tell you from personal experience that this one habit can work wonders towards keeping you feeling refreshed and mentally alert.... #ThoughtsforThursday #fitnesstip #fitnessjourney #fitness #trainertip

Did you know? 25% of people give up their New Year's resolutions within ONE week. 60% give up within 6 months. The average person makes the same resolution 10 times without succeeding.... It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are 9 tips to help you crush your goals in 2021... Put them on paper. Neuroscience says this helps encode them in our brain. Make them actionable. Actionable goals such as "I will workout 4x per week" are easier to measure and help you stay on track. Make them realistic. If they aren't attainable, you're more likely to give up. Make them time-sensitive. Without a deadline, it is too easy to put it off till "tomorrow. Make sure they're motivating. If you can't get excited about a goal, it's going to be very hard to stick with it. Make them measurable. "I will go to the gym 3x per week" is much easier to measure than "I will start working out". Make sure they are narrow-focused. Setting goals that pull you in 30 different directions will leave you exhausted and unclear about what to prioritize. Share your goals. We're generally more concerned about letting others down than ourselves. Share your goals with people who will hold you accountable. Review regularly. Regular check-ins help you stay focused and keep you from drifting off course. #fitnesstip #TuesdayTip

Growing up my mom would never let me watch TV while doing homework (first world problems, I know). I wasn’t happy... episodes of Zack Morris and Mr. Belding on Saved by the Bell couldn't be all that bad, could it? I thought she was being overly strict, but in hindsight, I may have been mistaken... hard to believe but yes, I guess every now and then momma knows best.... To many parents, in this scenario, the idea of eliminating distraction and focusing on one task at a time might seem like common sense. HOWEVER... in regards to forming better habits, parents (and non-parents alike) often don’t follow their own advice and try to change too much at once. Change can be difficult and overwhelming. The more habits we attempt to change at once, the less likely we are to be successful. If you're looking to form better habits and make change stick, change fewer things at one time. Start with simple habits and build from there. It may seem minuscule at the time, but like my mother enforced, focusing on one thing at a time will often lead to a better outcome over time. The moral of the story.... focus on one change at a time and listen to your mother. #ThoughtsforThursday #fitnesstip #fitnessjourney #fitness #TrainerTip

#TuesdayTip Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in, day out. That workout you did when you didn't feel like it. That choice you made to skip dessert.... The time you took the dog for an extra walk when you could have stayed on the couch. It might not seem like it at the time but it all matters. Each decision you make to better yourself today helps shape the person you become tomorrow. Think about that the next time you don't want to do something you know you should! Progress is not determined by one big decision or action but by hundreds of small, daily decisions and actions. Make sure you are making the right decisions to become the person you want to be... YOU deserve it! #tipoftheweek #fitnesstip #foodforthought

#ThursdayThoughts Move your body in all directions We spend most of our life moving in one plane of motion forward and backward. To truly work our entire body, keep things in a healthy balance, and reduce the odds of getting injured, we need to incorporate movements that help us get stronger through rotation, lateral movement, etc.... This pays off so that at times when we do get put in these unusual positions, we have the strength to perform the movements properly and the strength to help prevent us from injury. #ThoughtsforThursday #fitnessTip #TrainerTip
