You may have seen this floating around over the last few days, but I wanted to address it because silence = complicity. I'm not normally one to put a business on blast, but this discriminatory bullshit has no place in the wedding industry. Full stop. The "we think you're marriage is wrong, but let us know if you'd like more information, we'll still take your money" is vile. ... This venue in our area has done the cowardly thing and turned off the ability to be tagged and has not made a public statement. Know that there are more people and vendors who support marriage equality than not. I'm so sorry this keeps happening. Love is love.

Even with all the curveballs 2020 has thrown at them, Rachel and Brad are full of joy and love, to the extent that you feel energized by their connection just by being around them, which is saying something because here is what their 2020 has looked like: May 9: Original wedding date, postponed to November 2020 July 14: Realize our hopes of COVID-19 going away by the fall isn't happening, postpone again until November 2021... September 6: OKAY, WE'RE DOING THIS. Rachel and Brad get married with an intimate group of family and friends witnessing their commitment to each other (who, may I add, were all tested and negative for COVID before attending - AND - Rachel's dad tested positive, so her parents were not able to make it the civil ceremony since they were in quarantine). September 20: Engagement session in their neighborhood in Chicago because 2020 is drunk, and linear time doesn't mean anything anymore. See more

THIS MOMENT. Tears start welling up in my eyes every time I look at this photo. It shows the impact of what COVID has done to this year, to gatherings with loved ones, to us as human beings; it shows the hard and unfair effects of multiple sclerosis on the human body. ... But then there's this beautiful moment that Rachel was able to share with her grandmother moments after saying, "I do." It's the human connection, all of the moments leading up to this day, all of the memories they have together. These little moments are what it's all about. . I was able to keep my shit together in person, but I lost it when I edited this photo. If you ever see me crying behind my camera, know that I'm fine, I'm just a big-time feeler and a contagious cryer. See more

I'm a summer forever kind of person, but I now openly accept the approaching spooky season BECAUSE RACHEL WORE A FREAKING CAPE DRESS TODAY! After two postponements of their wedding day (OG date was May 9th), Rachel and Brad had a lovely civil ceremony with an intimate group of family and friends - everyone in attendance tested negative prior to the wedding. And in 14 months, they're going to throw a big party to celebrate with everyone at The Grand Hall at Power & Light!... Congratulations, friends.
