NEWS FROM THE NATIONAL RETRIEVER DERBY CLUB September 11, 2020 The National Retriever Derby Club will be hosting the 2020 National Derby Championship during the... week of October 5th - 9th, 2020. Due to the unprecedented reduction in field trials, there have been only 80 Derby stakes held in the entire country, where there would typically be 170 by this point in the year. Obviously, this reduced the events and resulting points available to all Derby dogs. Therefore, we have reduced the 2020 qualification requirements commensurate with the near fifty percent decrease in trials. Now you will only need THREE POINTS TO QUALIFY. As of this announcement, this brings the total qualified Derby dog count to just over 50 dogs. We have spoken directly to many of the Derby dog owners and we are equally excited to see all your Derby dogs in Sedalia. The event will be opened for entry on Entry Express as soon as we have the customary AKC event and premium approval. As we plan, we wanted you to know that we will be administering and complying with Federal, State, Local and AKC Best Practices regarding COVID-19. We are excited to announce the National Retriever Derby Club Championship for 2020 will proceed. We ask you to see the event premium and qualifier letter for additional details in the coming days! We can’t wait to see who the 2020 National Derby Champion will be! National Retriever Derby Club Board of Directors Michael Robicheaux, President Jeff Schuett, 1st Vice-President Don Fregelette, 2nd Vice-President John Stracka, Secretary/Treasurer Becky Eckett, PRTA Director #NRDC #NationalDerby #2020NRDC #2020NRDCpointchange
