This is a video from training today where members practice a technique called Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search (VEIS). This is used in rooms where either from known information, or a process called rescue profiling, we can identify a victim in a specific room of the residence. Firefighters can vent a window to enter the room, shut the door to isolate it from the fire, then search for and remove occupants of that room. This is a high risk, high benifit action that should be practiced regularly. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158266583837572&id=560027571

Great day of training today. The Birmingham Fire Department hosted live fire training today. Members of Birmingham, Claycomo, Pleasant Valley, and Kansas City Fire Departments along with some students from the Cass Career Center participated in the live fire evolutions. Training together, and building relationships prior to an incident, is the key to successful fire ground operations. As mutual-aid partners we try to train together regularly. https://www.facebook.com/560027571/posts/10158266980032572/

Birmingham Fire Department C900 and P91 responded mutual-aid on a structure fire with the Pleasant Valley and Claycomo Fire Department's. Companies arrived to find heavy fire and smoke. They made a good stop and worked well together. No injuries reported.

Birmingham Fire Department Pumper 91 responded mutual-aid to the Fishing River Fire Protection District for a heavily invloved structure fire. Liberty, Kearney, Wood Heights, Orrick, and Fort Osage Fire Departments also responded. It was a hot day, and it took a lot of hard work by the members of these dedicated fire service organizations to bring the fire under control. There were no reported civilian injuries.

Small video from this months training night. Members worked on driving a cone course where they learn the performance and capabilities of the fire apparatus. Tonights focus was on turning, diminishing clearance, and stopping distance. Members worked with our unit Pumper 91, a 2005 E-One Typhoon 1250/500 Pumper. https://youtu.be/KQRQ5Pfqy5A
