Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 I'm getting lots of questions about this... so lets chat. A little history... The name Corona comes from the shape of the virus because it looks like a crown with the spikes extending off it. There are SEVEN coronaviruses (The first was discovered in the 1960s) Most people have had a corona virus which has symptoms like a common cold SARS and MERS are also coronaviruses (We lived through those FYI) The Novel Coronavirus is a mutation and new... thus called Novel Who is at higher risk? Elderly Immunocompromised Underlying autoimmune issues (There have been no deaths for children 9 and younger) Dos & Don'ts Don't make out with people who just traveled from China! A little humor but direct contact, droplets from coughing and sneezing pass it from one person to another. Don't hang out with people who are coughing or sneezing! (Coughs can spread viruses up to 15 feet; sneezes can spread it up to 25 feet) Don't touch surfaces and then touch your eyes, nose or put your hands in your mouth! These are points of entry. Turn off the mass hysteria of the news. WASH YO HANDS THE RIGHT WAY! This means soap, water and friction for THIRTY seconds. Sing your ABCs while you scrub! Below is a picture where I used Glo-Germ on my hands to show hand washing times and effectiveness. Boost your immune system with Vitamin C, Zinc, Echinacea, and Elderberry (do not take if you have the virus) Having a healthy gut is important! Take probiotics! I'll be over here using my Envirocloth to wipe down hard surfaces while I'm out and about living my life. (But If you are using those Anti-Bacterial wipes I challenge you to read the instructions on how to get the 99% effectiveness. You must keep the surface visibly wet for FOUR SOLID minutes so that means keep pulling wipes and wiping that surface for that entire time. Then you need to wash the surface with water after to remove the chemical residue.
