It’s a fence-building weekend ... time for my round pen/ temp fence to be replaced permanently.
One of these sweet young ladies got a special birthday gift this afternoon from her extremely thoughtful parents! Surprised, new alpaca owner! We feel very confident that Chaps and Stargazer are in good hands! Happy Birthday, Stella!!! Jeremy Fast
Love was in the air this most beautiful morning. Fingers crossed for a lot of spit-offs in about 10 days!
It’s a boy for our maiden Orobella and his sire Diamond T!
Fiber event this weekend in Lebanon, MO. Come see us!
New yarns back from the mill, some very pretty and exciting combinations using alpaca fiber as the base, of course! Online store will be updated soon, stay tuned.
In contrast to my previous post, these are my freshly clipped pens (Bella Alpaca Country Club & Golf, LLC)
Hubby says pastures don’t need to look like a golf course .... of course, I disagree. MANY hours spent this weekend trying to reclaim this overgrown field which is still a mess but at least I can see all the fence borders. Lesson learned!!!
Crias were born after our annual shearing date this year, so I decided to shear this lil’ squirt myself. Using my handy Wahl clipper and 3 blades later, he has a haircut like the big kids . Recommendations for shearing equipment are greatly appreciated, the method I used today is not $$$ efficient! The best news ... he has an awesome baby coat , good conformation plus a nice weight gain since birth, we’ll be adding him to our show line for next year! And yes, I’m biased
It’s a boy! I’ve read several other posts recently about the number of male crias born this season. To add to the data, we also had all boy crias! Mama Latte pictured here is the real surprise though as she accepted the male for several repeat exposures. I had her in my records as due in September. Thanks to a good look during shearing we knew a baby would arrive earlier. Baby watch is officially on hiatus for the summer months!
Tempest delivered a cute lil’ boy today. Second pic is a two-week old checking out his new playmate, let the fun begin!
New cria with interesting markings arrived yesterday. It will be fun coming up with a name that is appropriate for him!
WARNING: this post contains neked alpacas and they are HAPPY about it!
