A woman was walking along the beach. Earlier that morning many hundreds of starfish were stranded on the sand. As she came across one in her path, she bent down..., picked it up an tossed it into the sea. Meanwhile, a man was searching for seashells with his small daughter nearby He noticed the woman and saw what the woman was doing. He shook his head, smirking at her almost vain effect! He called his daughter and they moved closer to the woman. He called out a friendly good morning. She looked up and nodded in return. He said, ma'am! I noticed what you were doing on the beach. I saw you picking up the stranded starfish one by one and tossing them back into the ocean! Ma'am, there are hundreds of them! Look how far down the beach they are! You are wasting your time, you aren't going to make a difference hardly at all! The lady watched him carefully as he said these words. When he said, you won't make a difference, there are too many, she smiled and bent down, picked up a starfish and threw it back into the sea! She looked back at the man, smiled again and said, "It made a difference to That one!" See more

Empathy By Jesus Christ The author of my life It was cold in Dallas. Temperatures had been in the 40’s and below for a couple weeks. I was just coming out of homelessness. I was still in the hood. Dallas was rough. Dirty, nasty, and dangerous! But I had a roof over my head, although it was a boarding room and the house was not heated. I had a heater for my room. I finally had a way to store and cook food, and a way to be clean. ... Somehow (it makes me dizzy to even think of all the details) I had managed to get a job in the midst of trying to stay alive. I had to leave at 4 am or so to get to work. It was my first day! I had my gear. It was freezing temperatures now. I had a thermos full of hot coffee and some cigs! I walked 5 blocks to my bus stop in the pitch black. Being ever so alert for strangers that might think I was an easy target. There was a homeless man sitting on one side of the covered bus stop. He was sitting on the bench, adjusting his plastic bags that he was trying to wear to keep in body heat. He had a big one over his upper body that was too tight. He was leaned down and trying to adjust a small grocery bag around his shoe. The bag that he had over his upper body was restricting his flexibility making it almost impossible to adjust the one on his foot. He was grumbling and struggling. I walked to the bench opposite and sat down. I saw what he was doing and said "Man! You're already on the bus! The struggle bus!" I was smiling because It was only days before that I was the one using plastic bags to keep from freezing. My partner had a joke, it pertains to those times when you are trying to do something so simple and it just isn’t working out. Like trying to open a tiny candy wrapper! It’s a tiny piece of plastic, but it might as well be Kevlar! You cannot get it open! That’s being on The Struggle Bus! Humor kept me from going insane those past couple weeks! And I was feeling very lighthearted, headed to my first day of a jo See more
