We will first delve into the changing landscape of the ECG in cath lab activation, speaking specifically to ECG triage criteria, occlusive MI vs. STEMI, and strange presentations. We will then review a number of STEMI mimics, confounders, and equivalents on actual ECGs. Specifically covered will be the ...subtle STEMI, left ventricular aneurysm, posterior MI, pulmonary embolus, pericarditis, toxicological syndromes, and all of the named phenomena including deWinter’s, Wellen’s, Brugada, etc. We will also look at some tools to help diagnose STEMI in the difficult-to-analyze ECG including Sgarbossa’s criteria, the LAD formula, and more! Students will have the opportunity to review many unique ECGs during this class. Intended Audience: Paramedics, nurses, and other advanced providers who have experience with basic 12-lead ECG interpretation and want to further their ECG interpretation ability See more

Public and Recruit EMT Class action from this week. Thanks to our partners at BHCEMS and MUHC EMS for their help.
In our continued efforts to support our colleagues at CBC Emergency Medical Professionals please consider submitting ECG’s along with a brief note explaining the context to help them build a robust and meaningful video case review series. Recent graduate of our program, Paramedic Jacob Line is leading this effort. You can email him at [email protected]. Jacob is a certified EKG nerd and deserves kudos for taking on this project in the true spirit of FOAMed.
Due to predicted bad travel conditions, the BLS Refresher for tonight (Thursday) has been cancelled. We anticipate that we will have the ALS Refresher on Friday.
