Well, it is obvious that when the Groundhog saw his shadow on February 2, Mother Nature took it seriously and brought on six more weeks of winter. To those who complain about winter the questions is, "Since we cannot do anything about it, what have you done to prepare for it?" That's sort of the way insurance works. There are things in life we may not be able to avoid--illness, severe weather, being involved in an auto accident, no matter how good a driver we are, to name ...a few. The best we can do is be prepared if those events occur. To avoid unwanted illness, we keep ourselves as healthy as possible, take our flu shots and avoid contact with someone who is sick. We, also, purchase medical insurance, just in case there is a severe illness. To prepare for severe weather, we keep our homes as strong as possible, avoid going out in severe weather, and purchase an insurance policy to pay for any damage severe weather may cause. The same with the potential auto accidents. We stay within the speed limits, use good and proven driving techniques, avoid distractions of cell phones and eating in the car and purchase an insurance policy that will cover a loss if it occurs. Therefore, we are prepared for the unwanted and unanticipated. So be prepared. Take what comes, Thank God for taking you through the negative situation and keep moving ahead.

I, recently, wrote a life insurance policy for a man who wanted to be sure his wife was cared for in the event of his death. That reminded me, again, of what I tell my life insurance clients. "We purchase auto insurance and home owners insurance to protect those items against loss in the event of an auto accident or a catastrophe that damages our home. However. the motivation for a life insurance policy is that 'Somebody loves someone."" The best motivation of all.

This is a reminder. Being the Valentine season, it's not too late to plan and carry out something special for that special someone. Yes flowers and candy can be good, but why not look for something on the "creative" side. Something that may feel a little out of character for you. Have you ever tried your hand at writing poetry? Even just a "four liner" can say volumes..This is not just for the men. Ladies, he would be honored by a poem about his attributes from you. ... For you guys, how about preparing a Valentine meal for her. It does not have to be fancy. Select a recipe, secure the ingredients, prepare the meal, plan a romantic dinner with candles and soft music, server her, don't rush, have a conversation with you doing most of the listening and, then, have her relax while you clean up your mess and put the kitchen back in order..(a hint: While preparing the meal avoid asking where certain pots or plates are. Do a little prep. time to find those things) This is part of that type of insurance I mentioned a week or two ago. It has a very affordable premium, pays rich dividends, extends your life and enhances your joy of living..
