MISSOURI STATE OF EMERGENCY EXTENDED, CDC WARNS AGAINST NON-HOUSEHOLD GATHERINGS Missouri Governor Mike Parson extended the state of emergency last week and issued a public health warning. If we do not slow the spread of the virus, our health care system will quickly become overwhelmed, said Missouri Governor Parson. This creates a major risk not only for COVID-19 patients but anyone requiring health care support, from emergency situations such as car accidents to the tre...atment of serious health conditions such as cancer. The State considers Cape Girardeau County a Category 1 - Extreme Risk area in Missouri. Taking personal responsibility in our community is absolutely critical: Wear a mask, wash your hands, stay home if sick (or a close contact) Social distance and limit interactions with others to less than 15 minutes Limit group interactions to a small group (10 or less) of family members Minimize travel outside of Missouri Consider occupancy limits reflective of social distancing Additional State guidance was sent to counties as outlined at the link below. Please also note: There is plenty of food and paper goods if we just buy what we need like we always do. Please do not hoard supplies leaving shelves bare for others. The CDC has said the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to celebrate at home with the people you live with. Gatherings with family and friends who do not live with you can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu. If you do gather with others, please make it as safe as possible.
