Three surgeons came together yesterday for a complicated facial cancer removal and reanimation procedure. I harvested a sural nerve graft from the leg to recons...truct the facial nerve, transferred a nerve from the chewing muscles to the muscles for smiling, and performed multiple procedures around the eye to help it close properly. Dr. Wirtz @nickwirtz1 is a fellowship trained cancer surgeon that removed the facial tumor and Dr. Muelleman is a fellowship trained neurotologist that identified the facial nerve behind the ear. Ascentist Ear, Nose & Throat is pleased to announce a new addition to our extraordinary team! Dr. Thomas Muelleman is a board certified Otolaryngologist, specializing in Otology and Neurotology, as well as lateral skull base surgeries. Dr. Muelleman is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, and recently finished a two year fellowship at the prestigious House Ear Clinic Los Angeles. Dr. Muelleman is now seeing patients at our Lakewood, Merriam and Broadway clinics!

In addition to TeleHealth appointments, we are now by now offering drive through clinics at our Merriam and Lakewood (Lee's Summit) locations. If you need to see a doctor about issues related to your ear, nose or throat give us a call or text at 816-478-4200 or 913-721-3387 to schedule a drive-throug...h appointment. Talk to a physician from your car as they assess your symptoms and develop a treatment plan. If further examination is necessary, we are able to complete the examination in our clinic. As a reminder, we are not staffed to care for COVID-19 patients. Please see your primary care doctor or other medical personnel if you have symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, such as fever, dry cough or shortness of breath.
