With the marking of Ash Wednesday, the Lenten Season has begun. Find out what Asbury is doing here: https://asburyunitedmethodist.org/lent/ Our new series, "Finding I Am" begins this Sunday: Moses confronts a bush blazing with a fire that does not consume to ask what is the name of the one who will deliver us from captivity? The answer is I Am. As God dwells among us, the Word made flesh, the question becomes, who is Jesus? Jesus responds in the Gospel of John with seven di...fferent simple phrases that provide deep insight into who God is in Jesus, and how Jesus continues to deliver us from captivity. As we begin the Lenten season understanding who we are in our limited abilities, Jesus reveals to us how he can take us beyond our limitations and free us for the life that was intended for us. Join us in Finding I Am.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a time of growing closer to God as Jesus did as he spent 40 days in the wilderness. It’s a time where Jesus pours into who he is so that he can be the I Am for us. But first, we have to understand who we are and why we are in need of the I Am. Join us on Asbury Live! at 7:30am to begin your day or at 6:30pm and mark the beginning of the journey of your Lenten discipline. We will also offer a drive-thru imposition of ashes from 9am to 2pm and you can also pick up your Lent in a Bag. We will now need some drivers to deliver bags on Saturday, January 20 at 2pm. Please let the office know if you are able to help.

In the Song of Songs, the writer shares a dream where her lover is gone and walls appear. Love turns into deep desire. To be in Love’s presence, the source of all love in this worldis this not the desire of us all? But as we are apart from love, from relatives, from friends, from those outside our bubble, we slip into the deep, insurmountable darkness of Love. Hadewijch finds tension of the intimacy of the depth of God’s love and the desire for such love, like the lovers of the Song of Songs. Join us Sunday at 10:30am on Asbury Live! For worship bulletin and Building the Community: https://asburyunitedmethodist.org//Live-Bulletin-02-14-21. To join us in live worship: https://live.asburyunitedmethodist.org
