Art in the Park and at home. The Arts Council of Lafayette Square is hoping area youth will check out the art posters that are on display in the Kern Pavilion. (They are inside. You have to look through the glass from the outside. And, please, social distance.) When you follow the QR code posted at the Kern (aka the boathouse), or go to our website - www.lafayettesquareartscouncil.com. - you will find information about the art, ideas for books to read and links to Internet ...sites PLUS an assortment of ideas for you to try at home. Pick your favorite artwork or spread the suggestions out over time. New posters will appear every few weeks. We would especially like you to post your artwork here. The Arts Council has decided to cancel the Lafayette Square concert series for this summer. According to the city, the maximum occupancy for outdoor concerts is 250 people. Individuals and organizations planning such events must fill out the COVID-19 Risk Management Form. For the summer concert series, 500 people would be a low turnout. And we have no way to control attendance in the park. Making the decision was very difficult, as we’ve held the concerts for 36 years. B...ut we hope for great things next year. The Arts Council is working to develop some family-oriented arts projects. Be sure to like this page for updates.

Tonight would have been the first concert of the season. How unusual not to be together with friends and neighbors enjoying music in our beautiful park. We have tried to find a way to work around all the issues, safety, social distancing, security, but things being as they are and the Parks Department cancelling all permits thru the end of July, we could not proceed. We will post any changes to this on this site. In the meantime, stay safe and well.
