The process can be summed up in three steps. The first is to work with a Recruiter. Once you sign up and are sworn in, you attend Basic Combat Training (BCT). Army Events 2014 U.S. ARMY ALL-AMERICAN BOWL ONLY THE STRONGEST WEAR OUR COLORSOn January 4, 2014, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl will once again kick off at San Antonio's Alamodome. As it has for more than a decade, this classic East versus West matchup will feature a collection of tomorrow's college and NFL stars showcasing their talents for a national television audience. The U.S. Army Marching Band, which is comprised of 125 of the nation's finest young musicians and co...lor guard members, will perform at half-time. Selection as a U.S. Army All-American is an important and prestigious honor for these athletes and musicians. These young men and women truly embody the characteristics of the Army Strong Soldier demonstrating Strength through Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage on a daily basis. Activities throughout Bowl Week help connect these All-American athletes and musicians with Army Soldier Heroes from around the country and provide better understanding of what it takes and what it means to be an Army Strong Soldier. More than 100 current NFL players and Heisman Trophy winners are counted among U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumni. Building upon the extraordinary players and incredible moments featured during each of the previous U.S. Army All-American Bowls, this year’s Bowl promises to provide the thousands in attendance, and millions more watching on NBC, a look at the future of college and professional football.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVING FULL TIMEWithin Active Duty, you can choose to serve either as an enlisted Soldier or an officer. While officers oversee operations, enlisted Soldiers show initiative to get the job done. Each has its own specialized training, responsibilities and areas of expertise. The length of Active Duty service can range from two to six years. When serving in Active Duty, typical deployments are 12 months in length; after six months, Soldiers are usually eligible for... a two-week Rest & Relaxation (R & R) leave. The exact length of deployment depends on each unit’s specific mission. ENLISTED SOLDIER THE HEART OF THE ARMY Enlisted Soldiers are the heart of the U.S. Army.
