Hello ALB family - it’s been a while! It’s been a while since we posted so we wanted to share a little about what’s up. We’re having a human puppy! Okay, most people would just call it a baby but this is an animal rescue page so there you have it. ... Also, in this case we is our founder and chief rescue wrangler Chasity. But rest assured, the rest of us could not be more excited! So what does this mean for Angels Left Behind? It means that Chasity is going to have to take a little break from chasing kitties down the side of the highway and filling our houses with fosters. Yes, the rescue is bigger than one person but we agreed that this is a good time for many of us to press pause for a hot minute. We are still working with breeders to network released pups to other rescue organizations and we are still caring for our herd of forever fosters (say hey, Franklin). Until we resume our regularly scheduled programming, we will pop in here and there to share updates. We appreciate your support and can’t wait to get back to rescuing animals in need!

LILLY KITTY Update: There’s no easy way to share this news. This morning, after her amputation surgery, Lilly coded. Even though the vet did CPR for 45 minutes, they were unable to bring her back. To say that we are heartbroken feels like a massive understatement. There is nothing easy about animal rescue but this ... this feels like a solid punch to the gut. ... A tiny injured kitten, rescued from the side of a highway, was given love and the best medical care, and it wasn’t enough this time. That just really sucks. We are going to give ourselves time to mourn and then we will focus on the positives in this story. - Lilly did not die alone on the highway. - An amazing animal rescuer saw her and got her to a safe place for help. She did not just drive past the precious little life. She noticed and she acted. - Lilly was not in pain and had been shown continuous love and compassion. Yes, we are heartbroken but we are also hopeful. We will continue to save animals again and again, even knowing there will be outcomes like this. There will be some that we can save and those will keep us moving forward. To all that donated to Lilly’s care, thank you so much. We will still be responsible for paying for the surgery, resuscitation effort, and cremation so the funds will be used. We appreciate your support!

BEAR the Poodle Recently, Angels Left Behind lost a VID (Very Important Doggo). Bear was the four-pound nugget that inspired our founder Chasity to start the rescue. Poor Bear was dumped in a rural shelter by an uncaring breeder. Apparently, he was only valuable while he was making money so once that was finished, out the door he went. He was discarded and left for others to deal with. ... Chasity snapped this boy up and when she heard his story it got her thinking. How many other pups were dumped just like Bear? The thought of those other poor dogs spurred Chasity to start the Angels Left Behind. Thanks to Bear, hundreds of dogs, cats, and even a ferret have been rescued from uncertain futures and placed into loving homes. Sadly, Bear passed away recently but his legacy will continue. Bear - We love you and miss you! Thanks for being a very good boy and we will see you again on the other side.

PUPDATE: Monroe Today is a big day for our super sassy gingerdoodle! Monroe is getting spayed and will have blood drawn to check her kidney function. The spay is a big step for our baby and the results of her blood test will be a very important part of managing her care. Puppynugget Monroe is now being fostered by our Executive Director and she is doing great! She still requires frequent diaper changes during the day and night but by all accounts, she is a smart, sassy, acti...ve, loving girl. Stay tuned - we will keep you posted on today's vet visit. UPDATE: The spay went great! Now, we just need the results of her blood and urine tests.
