"Used to be a dream...but now it's you and me." When I heard this song last summer, I knew it was my song. For all of the chaos of 2020, this past year has given us the gift of being together, clarifying again and again what really matters. There used to be a time when all of this was just a dream, when I had been told I may never have children. When I would go on walks with Dan every night after work and cry, wondering if we'd ever have a family. I think that is one of ...the reasons why I feel so deeply about my family, as well as the families I film and photograph. There have been so many details of this season I love that I wish I could press the pause button and hold them forever. The way my youngest one wakes up and crawls into bed with me each morning...the way he falls asleep next to me each night. The way we can never figure out a shoe organization system that actually works. The love and laughter around the table when Dad makes his famous brunch. So on my week off "work" I decided to press that pause button a few extra times on my camera to capture my family. And while I'm sliding in just as 2020 closes, I have made for us what I love creating for others. See more

Finishing up this year and reflecting on all the beauty I was able to witness behind my camera this past year. Today, one of my first tiny clients of 2020 turns one, and his family--like so many of the families and seniors and couples I have photographed--have become near and dear to my heart. I love getting to be a small part of your lives, I love the joy of watching your children and families grow, and my prayer before every session I photograph is that you will see the b...eauty of your family in the moments we capture together. I know this past year hasn't been easy. I sighed a breath of relief each time one of my stunning brides walked down the aisle into the arms of her groom, as I was so glad they were able to pull off their big day in the middle of such craziness. But what amazing weddings I have witnessed this year, beautiful and full of so much love! So thank you to all of you who were a part of my 2020, I couldn't be more blessed to have had each and every one of you in front of the camera. Here's to stepping out of 2020 and into 2021!! I couldn't have laughed louder than I did this afternoon. I LOVE Christmas cards...LOVE them! So this afternoon I finally sat down with some Christmas cookies and milk to enjoy opening and reading every single one. As soon as I opened this family's card, I cracked up. You might remember I took their family pictures earlier this fall. And here is how the card reads at the bottom of their BEAUTIFUL family picture: "Major hat tip to our favorite photographer. Amy Rauch wit...h Amy Elizabeth Photography. Isn't she great!! Contact her on Facebook for all your photography needs." All I can say is their Christmas card picture is so much better than their new canvas hanging on their wall (I'll put that image in the comments.) I know I will be hanging on to this one for years to come. In fact, I plan to frame it! LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH, WESCOATS!!

Going back to grab that 25th anniversary milestone from this past summer. So many epic images from that night, the scenery was incredible. But if you know me at all, you know why I love this one even more than the scenery...
