Did you know that you can’t freeze honey? The cold will speed up the crystallization process, but the honey will never freeze. We’ve been able to put honey in our self serve box the past several winters. So, please stop by and get some honey when you need it, the box should be stocked!

We made this Schnucks balsamic-honey pork loin roast with berries tonight and it was delicious! (I don’t know why it says request rejected but the recipe is there if you click on it!)

We have some beautiful pottery honey jars available. They are thrown by hand by Myles. Each jar is unique and holds about 1/2 lb of honey. Each comes with a cork lid and a hand turned walnut honey dipper. Also included is a 3 lb bottle of honey to refill the jar. ... We have only a few available. If we sell those, more can be made within a few weeks. Total price for 3 lbs of honey, jar and dipper is $50.

We extracted honey yesterday (about 375# of ours and 100# of some friends’) and now we’re letting the bees clean out the honey supers before putting them away for the winter. If your sound is on, the noise that sounds like rain is bees hitting the window!

Special thanks to Wildwood Councilman Joe Garritano for coming out today to learn about bees and the honey extraction process.
