I was debating whether or not to post this but I felt the need to. Sometimes this is what it looks like to be a CNA/caregiver. This is what it looks like to ge...t off a long shift. This is what it looks like taking care of someone who is dying. This is what it looks like to hold someone's hand as they cry in pain, fear and confusion. This is what it looks like to calm someone's husband, wife, sister, brother, mom, dad, cousin, aunt, uncle, friend, grandma, grandpa as they are on their way to a better place. This is what it looks like to be the only one who can console, or attempt to console, someone crying out for their family member out of confusion. This is what it looks like to bandage the same skin tear over and over because a resident/patient has fallen so much and their skin is as weak as paper. This is what it looks like trying to calm a resident/patient for hours on end so that they don't get up and hurt themselves on accident. This is what it looks like to love more than you thought your heart could. This is what it looks like to lose sleep wondering how a resident/patient is doing. This is what it looks like spending holidays and time away from your own family so that you can gladly take care of someone else's. This is what it looks like to be the voice and advocate for someone who needs you. This is what it looks like to care, hope, and pray for someone who won't even remember you tomorrow. This is what it looks like to be a CNA/caregiver. We are more than "glorified ass wipers". We are more than someone who cleans up blood, feces, and urine. We are more than what those who don't understand our "job" say about us. We are the voices, hearts and warriors for those who need us, even those who may not know they do. I am a caregiver and I am damn proud to be one.

He's not a spokesperson for everyone with cerebral palsy, but he has a few (humorous) things he's hoping everyone can learn. (And no, Ethel, he doesn't know your grandson. ) (via Cerebral Palsy Foundation)

Ok so in light of the recent outbreak of civic-19 let me take the moment to vent a little bit. First is that more people have died from flu then from this. Second living your day to day life should not take the place of loosing mind over this. Wash your hands, keep your fingers out of your nose, mouth and eyes. Eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water, avoid public places if you or your household is sick, and avoid large crowds. Is there a need to buy 3 years of toilet pape...r...no, do you need to go to your local Wal mart and buy out all of the food....no. Take the precautions that you would take with the flu or any other serious illness but do not let it take over your life and cause you to panic. Finally I don’t mean this to be insensitive to those that are sick with this or who have passed or have loved ones that have passed from this. It is very sad and I truly feel for those people. And wish those that are ill with it a speedy recovery and pray daily for the medical workers that are exposing themselves daily to care of the sick. See more

It's time for the Holiday baking season. Each year I choose a foundation or charity to donate to. This year I will be doing desserts and splitting the proceeds with the Facial Paralysis and Bells Palsy Foundation. This is a foundation that seeks to raise awareness in the medical community of facial paralysis and BP. It also seeks to connect those with this and eliminate the thought that they are all alone in this. Message either myself or George Fischer for more details. Merry Christmas Happy Yule and Happy Holidays to all and thank you for another great year!
