Asphalt removed, curbs installed - the #ArmourCenter project is coming along quickly! The trees are showing off a little, too.

Whew-time flies! In July we shared that a key piece of the Armour Center restoration project was funded through the PIAC process. After a few additional updates and quick notice last week, construction has begun!! You'll notice sawcuts in the asphalt between the two existing islands and around the fountain island. This will allow the two islands to be joined and surrounded by a curb that will improve traffic flow, safe use of the islands, and even turf maintenance. The new cu...rblines will include inlets to allow the larger greenspace to take on stormwater that would otherwise be directed into the storm sewer - an effort, in conjunction with the Smart Sewers program, to reduce the pressure on this portion of the Town Fork Creek Watershed. Keep watching - construction photos will be posted as the work progresses over the next couple of weeks.

Exciting project update! The City of Kansas City has granted PIAC funding to a key piece of the Armour Center project. This funding will evaluate the work needed to remove the asphalt and allow the greenspace to be continuous between Brookside Road and the fountain island. The space will be safer, with fewer conflicts between vehicles and visitors enjoying the area, and more storm water will be captured in the greenspace. Stay tuned for updates on the project!
