This past week was a very trying week for public health. We received notice of the most cases in a week than we have ever seen so far. We are afraid this is t...he beginning of many more to come. We want to remind the public that this virus is here! Community Hospital-Fairfax, Dr. Burke and the health department will have a press release in this week’s AC Mail. We will also share on social media. We are stressing the importance of wearing a face covering, physical distancing and staying home when not feeling well. Together, we remind you that the time is now for everyone to do their part in helping to control the spread of this disease in our communities. There were 32 new cases from 11/02 11/09 2 males age 10-19 1 female, 2 males ages 20-29 2 females, 2 males ages 30-39 4 females, 2 males ages 40-49 4 females, 1 male ages 50-59 6 females, 2 males ages 60-69 1 female, 3 males ages 70-79 As of 11/09/2020: 136 total cases, 30 are active. Our current 7-day positivity rate from 10/29 11/4 is 12.5%.

****ATCHISON COUNTY BURN BAN EFFECTIVE IMEEDIATELY**** The Atchison County Commission has issued a Burn Ban for Atchison County due to the Imminent Threat of Disaster by the way of fire Fires have been reported throughout the county and have caused substantial damage. Once started, these fires are difficult to control and strain volunteer fire department’s manpower and resources.... The following acts are prohibited within the boundaries of this County by all citizens and visitors: 1. Careless use of materials, including cigarettes, cigars, and smoking pipes. Discard shall be in a manner to prevent threat from smoldering remains initiating a fire. 2. Building, maintaining, attending, or using any open fire or campfire except in permanent stoves or fireplaces or barbeque grills. 3. Prescribed burning of all fence rows, field, wild land, ravines, trash, and debris. Prescribed burning may be exempted from this order where such burning is necessary and has been specifically approved in writing by the Atchison County Director of Emergency Management (or other appropriate officer) . Anyone knowingly and willfully in violation of this Ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor and any person convicted of such violation shall be punished as provided by law. This BURN BAN ORDER shall be in force and effect until action is taken by the Atchison County Commission to terminate.

CERTIFIED COPY OF ORDER OF COMMISSION ORDINANCE 009-2020 COUNTY-WIDE BURN BAN, OCTOBER 13, 2020 STATE OF MISSOURI} County of Atchison} ss. 4th Day of the OCTOBER Term, 2020... IN THE COUNTY COMMISSION OF SAID COUNTY On the 4th day of the October 2020 term, the following, among other proceedings were had, viz: COMES NOW the Atchison County Commission and having before it the matter of the Imminent Threat of Disaster by the way of fire, and WHEREAS, the grassland and cropland of Missouri form an important part of our economy, and provide for protection of watersheds, forage for livestock, refuge for wildlife, and recreational opportunities. Wildfires endanger these resources, real and personal property, and the lives of residents and visitors in these areas. Extremely dry and windy weather conditions with temperatures above normal have created an extreme fire hazard in the grassland and cropland of Missouri. Fires have been reported throughout the county and have caused substantial damage. Once started, these fires are difficult to control and strain volunteer fire department manpower and resources, and WHEREAS, the fire danger is EXTREME in Atchison County, and WHEREAS, the dry conditions, above-normal temperatures and fire danger will continue unabated until sufficient rainfall occurs across the area, and THEREFORE, be it hereby ordered by the Atchison County Commission that the following acts are prohibited within the boundaries of this County by all citizens and visitors: 1. Careless use of materials, including cigarettes, cigars, and smoking pipes. Discard shall be in a manner to prevent threat from smoldering remains initiating a fire. 2. Building, maintaining, attending, or using any open fire or campfire except in permanent stoves or fireplaces or barbeque grills. 3. Prescribed burning of all fence rows, field, wild land, ravines, trash, and debris.
