It is a common mistake to train until you pass your test, only to take a break and forget to keep up with your ritual of practice. Passing a test does not mean you have mastered your techniques, or perfected your basics. It also does not mean that you will be well prepared, should you ever need to deploy your skills. Make practice a habit, and keep aiming for improvement!
"We bite first!"
This is pretty neat. 100 years old, and you can see bits and pieces of techniques we use. Kenpo has so much jiu-jitsu in it. Now if only we would dress up a little more civilized!
Congrats to everyone that made the cut at today’s Brown Belt test. We really ran you through the wringer!
True warriors are selfless, good stewards of their community. These guys know the Way of the Samurai!
Kudos to this community. Violence prevention skills level up! https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/minneapolis-nashville-and/
Ever encounter a Kenpo stylist that states their system is "complete"? But then they don't have any techniques from the mount position? A defense for a rear hair grab? What about knife, gun, and rifle disarms? Learn with a DVD or digital download containing easy to follow instructional video. Manual and syllabus included! Check out why Kenpo stylists and self-defense enthusiasts alike are picking up the Retana Kenpo Karate System. Learn what you're missing: aactionmartialarts.ecwid.com
If you get your butt handed to you in a fight...

Some funny to get your week started!
Today is the 3rd anniversary of Mr. Mitchell's passing. I'm glad that this year I was able to visit his grave and pay my respects. Even though I still carry a lot of grief, I make sure to remember him with gratitude. He shared so much wisdom and knowledge with me, and always brought joy and laughter to the dojo. Fond memories: On many occasions I would arrive at the studio to teach the evening shift, and would hear Mr. Mitchell playing his trumpet in the back room. Sometimes he'd be in the office playing his tin whistle. That always made me smile. It instilled in me the notion that we should have hobbies. To develop many skills and enjoy life's infinite experiences is to live a full life. Feel free to share your own Mr. Mitchell memories!
"We're gonna teach you one of the most basic kicks, for basic people like you." These kids! https://youtu.be/8JbKDbexwhI
