Bessie Maxine Jacobs, of Rolla, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born in Safe, MO on November 25, 1927 to the late Ward Wood Sr. and Bessie (Quick) Wood. Maxine was first married to Ernie Daniels who preceded her in death in 1968. In 1972, she married Earl Jacobs, who also preceded her in death in 1997. Maxine had developed a green thumb and could grow about anything. Her successful gardens were a testament to that. She also was a wonderful coo...k and enjoyed making meals for family and friends. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Jacobs was preceded in death by three brothers, James Wood, John Wood and Lyle Wood; one sister, Ruth Mash; and one grandson, Jordan Henry. She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Steve Daniels, of Rolla and Susan Henry and husband Don, of Vichy, MO; one brother, Ward Wood, Jr. and wife Helen, of Springfield, MO; stepson, Eric Jacobs, of New Jersey; four grandchildren, Kim Daniels, of Austin, TX, Rorry Daniels and husband Kevin McGhee, of New Jersey, Jason Henry, of St. Louis, MO, and Jeremy Henry and wife Linsy, of Lee’s Summit, MO; great grandchildren, Charlie McGhee, Griffin Henry, Lauren Henry, Eva Henry, and Eli Henry; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends. Maxine will be interred privately next to her first husband, Ernie Daniels, in the Tennyson Cemetery in Maries County. The family will gather privately to celebrate her life. See more

Harold J. McCurdy Jr. passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the age of 79 in Columbia, Missouri at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital. Harold was born in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Harold and Margrite (Smith) McCurdy. On December 5, 1980 he married Susanne (Corey) McCurdy in Rockford, IL. Harold enjoyed playing pool, loved driving his mustang, and served as a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving with the Army. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceeded in death by... one son, Harold J McCurdy III; one brother, Richard A. McCurdy; and one grandson, Brian L. Wells. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Sue of the home, in Rolla, Missouri; two daughters Joni Meacham and husband Tom, of Riverton, IL and Tonya Wells, of Leroy, IL; three sisters, Carolyn Sue Shocky and husband Elvin of Pontiac, IL, Sharon Hummel, of Pontiac, IL, and Margie Adams and husband Randy, of Normal, IL; five grandchildren, Jesse Hicks, Brittanie Hicks, Cassidy Bradford, Sammi Douglas, and Cody Wells; as well as a host of great grandchildren. Bessie Luella (Jones, Barnett) Peeler passed away on November 7, 2020 in Rolla, MO at the age of 92. Bessie was born August 16, 1928 in Phelps County, Missouri to James and Gertrude (Kidwell) Jones. She was united in marriage to Herbert E. Peeler on June 22, 1957, together raising five children Ray, Jim, Herb, Bill and Sue. Bessie is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Peeler, daughter Dorothy Maxine Barnett, son Herbert C. (Herb) Peeler, and grandson James C. (...Jamie) Barnett, along with her parents, four brothers (Clayborne, Earl, Sidney and Carl Jones) and three sisters (Katherine Merrill, Ruth Stogsdill and Helen Gibbons). She is survived by sons Ray Barnett and wife Jane (Rolla), Jim Barnett and wife Laura, (Toccoa, Georgia), Bill Peeler (Rolla) and daughter Sue Turner and husband Bob (Rolla); five grandchildren, Terry Barnett (Rolla), Lisa Loy and husband Chris (McKinney, TX), Randy Barnett (Rolla), Missy Coffee (Toccoa, Georgia), and Stephen Turner and wife Nanette (Rolla); nine great and four great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bessie was a lifetime resident of Rolla and member of Community Christian Church. She loved the Lord, trusted his promises and taught that belief to her family. She met Herb while working at the city’s first Dairy Queen. She also worked at several local restaurants, back in the day, including the Blackberry Patch and the Greyhound bus station. She later retired from what was then the University of Missouri-Rolla where she enjoyed serving students in the cafeteria and snack shop. She and Herb shared over 53 years together loving their immediate and extended family above all, ready to help, support or just listen. She was fun loving and enjoyed playing bingo, cards, dominos and going anywhere she could. While Bessie was short in stature, she was larger than life in the way she loved her family and friends. She is greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Null & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Wands officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Community Christian Church in Rolla, MO.

Trevor Shane Harris, of Rolla, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 19. He was born on February 13, 2001 to Justin Wilson and Mary Harris. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rylee Santas and his grandfather, Melvin Harris. Trevor liked camping with his grandpa Bob and he enjoyed the time he had with his grandpa Melvin, hanging out with his brothers, sisters, and family, listening to music, and hanging out with his friends. Robert Patterson Rogers, Jr., of Rolla, was born in Portland, Oregon on August 2, 1936, was a sinner much forgiven and died December 2, 2020. Robert was a baptized covenantal Christian of pious practice and liberal persuasion who got bewitched by Jesus at an early age through the smell of his grandmother’s freshly baked hot crossed buns before dawn on an Easter morning. He loved his family, thought his friends the best in the world, was inspired by worship, and was most at h...ome in the out-of-doors. During the last years of this life, Robert received excellent medical care which he hoped would become available to all. Robert was ordained to Ministry in the Presbyterian Church, USA in 1961 and served as parish pastor, Regional College Minister, and retired as Clinical Pastoral Educator, Supervisor Emeritus. In retirement he served as Chaplain to Phelps County Democratic Party. Robert is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jane Rogers, his grandparents, and a son, Bret. He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife, Linda, whom he never felt he rightly deserved, his brothers, Michael and Joel and their wives Judy and Joan; his children, Leslie and Adam and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Dylan, Adrian, and Aelita; stepchildren, Amie and her husband Ariel, Sarah and her husband Jason, and Matthew and his wife Courtney; step grandchildren, Maya, Julian, Gabriela, Elina, Elijah, Gracie, Caleb, Joshua, Cora, and Tristan; and great grandchildren, Samantha and Jordan. John Stanley Arthur of Rolla passed away Tuesday December 1st at the age of 71 at home with his family surrounding him after a short illness. John was born on April 25th, 1949 in Rolla Mo to Ollie and Emma (Roader) Arthur. He was married to Wilma (Maxwell) Arthur on June 26th 1971 in Rolla Mo. To this union three girls were born. John was a Christian and an active member of the Rolla Church of Christ for over 40 years. John was raised on a family farm west of Rolla and ...graduated from Rolla Senior High School in 1968. Upon graduation he joined the Army, completing basic training in Fort Polk Louisiana and serving six years in the National Guard Reserve. John then worked at Holsum Bakery for 15 years all the while building his farming business. After retirement from the bakery he worked at what he loved farming fulltime. John loved spending time with his family, traveling (especially farm tours), taking care of his farms, and watching his family grow. He was an avid fisher, hunter, golfer, and loved trading anything he thought he could make a dollar on. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ted, Jim, and Ray Arthur, a sister Dortha Harris, and a daughter, Shawn (Arthur) McDonald. John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Wilma of the home, Son-in-law Tom McDonald of Rolla, a daughter Shannon and husband Travis Baker of Rolla, a daughter Kim and husband Wes Parker of Rolla, granddaughters Emma and husband Tyler Murphy, Tommie McDonald, Makayla and Allyson Baker, Bailey, Shelby and Addie Parker, grandson Jacob McDonald and one sister Marjorie Green of Rolla. Troy Mitchell Light, of Rolla, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the age of 33. He was born in Rolla on April 5, 1987 to Sandra (Bradshaw) Light and Mitchel Perry Light. Troy’s interests were centered on his children. He enjoyed and cherished taking his children on long walks, playing in the park, and spending quality time with them. Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maxine Bradshaw, Chester Nowack, Lois Light and Francis Light. Judy May (Jordan) Brookshire, of Edgar Springs, MO passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 70. She was born in Edgar Springs, MO on April 22nd, 1950 to the late Edward and Ruby (Jackson) Jordan. On June 8th, 1968 she married Ted Brookshire, who survives. Judy was a person that lit up any room she walked into. She loved everyone she met and never met a stranger. In return, everyone that knew her loved her. Her family was her world and she always made it her priority... to make sure everyone was taken care of. She shared her life with Ted, her husband of 53 years, and raised a beautiful family. She was the best mom in the world to her two daughters and the best Nana to her three grandchildren that adored her beyond words. Judy was blessed to have all of her brothers and sisters close to her and she loved them all very much. Judy had so many wonderful friends and, also a close group of friends that she and Ted enjoyed spending time with-having dinner together, playing cards and traveling on vacations. Judy built an amazing career in the wholesale plumbing business, Riback Supply Company. She put her heart and soul into it for 47 years. She loved her customers and, not only made sure they were taken care of, but treated them like family. Judy enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, being outdoors, cruising on the golf cart, carrying on the tradition of her parent’s garden, camping and, most of all, making people laugh. Evelyn Louise Clift, of Nixa, MO, formerly of Rolla, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the age of 81, surrounded by loved ones. Louise was born in Perryville, MO, on July 28, 1939 to Edward Lee Key and Verdean (Welch) Key. Her early enjoyable passions were cheerleading, singing, dancingsimply a natural performer on any stage. In 1963 Louise packed up her belongings and son Clay to join his father Neal Vaughn in Las Vegas. Louise worked at the secretive g...overnment facility known as the Test Site in the Nevada desert outside of Las Vegas until the birth of her second child, Myra, in 1966. Louise then took up Real Estate and became one of the main owner/broker’s to create the Realestators, which became the largest Real Estate firm in the State of Nevada. 1979 brought a move back to her hometown of Rolla to be closer to her declining mother. Real Estate remained her profession with time split between Rolla and St. Louis until her retirement in 2018. June 20th, 1981 instantly increased the size of Louise’s family with her marriage to Gary Clift in Rolla, MO. Although she could be a very tough business woman, Louise was known more for her kindness and her love of working with people. She loved her family, working, drinking coffee, good food, gardening, and long, meaningful talks. Louise will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes two children and three stepchildren; Clay Vaughn of Brookings, OR, Myra Vermillion and husband James, of Nixa, MO, Lisa Sparks and husband Jimmy, of Rolla, MO, Ginger Quick and husband Michael, of Nixa, and Donnie Clift and wife Dawn, also of Nixa; seven grandchildren, Nicole Allen and husband Chris of Springfield, MO, Chelsea Tanner and husband Chris of Rolla, Blake Vaughn of Portland, OR, Jake Vaughn of Eugene, OR, Dexter Vaughn, of Eugene, OR, Riley Clift of Nixa, MO, and Makenzie Clift, also of Nixa; and two great-grandchildren, Harlee and Wyatt Tanner of Rolla. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Gary on July 11, 2008, her parents, Edward and Verdean Key, and stepson, Gary Wayne Clift. Dr. William Frank Parks, of Rolla, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 1, 1938 to the late Lee and Frances (Gaito) Parks. On December 29, 1956 he married Carol (Newman) Parks, who survives. Bill first graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, PA in January of 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lehigh University in 1960 in Engineering Physics and his PHD in Physics ...from Iowa State University. Dr. Parks had a distinguished career as a Professor of Theoretical Physics, first at Kansas State University from 1964-1966 then beginning at UMR, now Missouri S&T from 1966 until retiring in 2000. Outside his professional career, his interests included being an avid outdoorsman and lover of nature, exploring its beauty through hiking, mountain climbing, bicycling, camping, and snow skiing. His maintained priority was always his love and devotion to family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parks was preceded in death by a daughter, Stefanie Maria Elder and one brother, John Parks. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Carol Parks, of Rolla; his daughter, Jennifer Heberlie and husband Joe, of Rolla; four grandchildren, Justin Eli Heberlie, of Rolla, Jacob Sinclair Heberlie, of St. Louis, MO, Kane C. Meek and Jace Robert Elder, both of Rolla; other extended family members and dear friends. Arthur Lynn Artie Wells, of Rolla, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 64. He was born in Ft. Riley, Kansas on January 1, 1956 to the late Gene Wells and Gloria Lorine (Taylor) Sharp. On November 21, 1980 he married Kathy (Sliger) Wells and they were later blessed with two sons. Artie graduated from the 1975 class of Rolla High School where he excelled as a talented athlete in Track and football. He went on to also be successful boxer and Golden Glove reci...pient. He retired from Rolla Public Schools where he worked as a custodian at the Rolla Technical Institute with twenty-five years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and going on camping trips with his wife Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jeannie Smith; and two brothers, Johnny and Martin Wells. Artie will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife of forty years, Kathy Wells, of Rolla; two children, Shon Wells and wife Melody, of Shenandoah, Iowa and Michael Wells and wife Ashley of Cuba, MO; one brother, Kenny Stanley, of Florida; two sisters, Carry Stanley, of Rolla and Melissa Sharp, of Granite City, IL; six grandchildren, Miani, Somari, Ariah, Makayla, Lydia, and Mason; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends. Linda Lu Marsh, of Edgar Springs, MO, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 83. She was born in Edgar Springs on April 12, 1937 to the late William Henry Pendleton and Mayme (Mace) Pendleton. On January 23, 1960 she married Edgar Hall who preceded her in death in 1987. In September of 1993 she married James Marsh who also preceded her in death in 2014. Mrs. Marsh served as a volunteer for Phelps Health for twenty-five plus years.... She enjoyed fishing and making and sending personal cards to friends and family. She was also an animal lover. She was known for her generosity to family and friends. Linda was a member of the Edgar Springs Baptist Church since childhood. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers. She will be dearly missed by her surviving family which includes her three daughters, Kim Brugman and husband Mark, of Edgar Springs, Tanna Taylor and husband Andrew, of Canyon Lake, TX, and Libby Schmidt and husband Brad, of Liberty, MO; stepdaughter, Tammie Stowe and husband Tim, of Beeville, TX; three grandchildren, Taylor, Collin, and Justin Schmidt; three step grandchildren, Amy Starr, Rebekah Lockwood and Tom Stowe; seven step great grandchildren; one nephew, Michael Pendleton, of St. Louis, MO; other extended family members and dear friends. Kim S. (Baker) Duncan, of Rolla, passed away October 24, 2020 at the age of 59. She was born in Waynesville, MO, on December 23, 1960 to the late Lawrence Baker and Nancy (Helton) Johnson. On August 7, 1976 she married Thomas Duncan, who survives. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Kim will be missed by many family members and dear friends.... David Norman Rush, of St. James, MO, formerly of Rolla, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the age of 68. He was born on May 4, 1952 in Newburg, MO to the late Leonard Rudy Rush and Ruby Jewel (Roberts) Rush. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Danny Rush. David loved fishing and going to yard sales. David attended the Camp Creek one room schoolhouse until the sixth grade. He graduated from the Rolla High School in 1971. Davi...d accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized while attending the First Baptist Church of Newburg. He will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes two brothers, Bill Rush and wife, Loretta of Bismark, ND and Donald Rush and wife, Donna of Hazelwood, MO; one sister, Shirley Cochran and husband, Jim of Perryville, MO; a sister-in-law, Linda Rush of Rolla, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. A graveside service for David N. Rush will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rolla. Brent Walter Reary, of Rolla, MO, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at the age of 69. He was born on May 24, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, MO to the late Ralph Reary and Shannon (Bales) Reary. On March 22, 1975, he married Melinda (Crowell) Reary in Rolla, MO. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Irma Plantz. Brent was an amateur astronomer. He enjoyed fishing when he was younger. Brent was an avid reader and loved history, especially WWI and ...WWII. He also loved his cats. Brent was employed as a microbiology section supervisor at Phelps Health before retirement. Brent will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Melinda Reary of Rolla, MO; two sons, Brendan Reary and wife, Whitney of Hot Springs, SD and Gavin Reary and wife, Naomi of Lincoln, NE; one brother, Mark Reary and partner, Patricia of Eminence, MO; and three grandchildren, Amy Reary and Declan Reary of Lincoln, NE and James Mattis Reary of Hot Springs, SD.
