On Dec. 1, 2020, USCIS implemented a revised naturalization civics test (2020 civics test) as part of a decennial test review and update process. On Thursday, February 4th, Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) reintroduced the Dream Act, a long-standing proposal that would grant a pathway to citizenship to unauthorized immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. The bill would provide approximately 2 million immigrants with lawful status and work authorization and would also provide immediate relief from deportation for immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. To be eligible under the Dream Act, an immigrant would have also had to remain in the U.S. for the past four years, not have any felony convictions, and pursue some level of educational attainment.
