On behalf of my family, the airport ownership group, and management, Thank you for the wonderful comments and sentiments regarding Al Stix Sr this week. We truly appreciate it. Both the Cournoyer and Stix family want you all to know that we plan to continue the mission of Creve Coeur Airport and honor the legacy of the men that took over in 1983. We will plan a proper memorial service in 2021 when the threat of Covid19 has passed. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to honor the memory of Al Stix Sr, please consider a donation to The Historic Aircraft Restoration Museum at 14301 Creve Coeur Airport Road Maryland Heights, MO. 63146 Al wrote this some time in the last six weeks before his passing, the exact date is not known. We think it was his way of saying goodbye.

A life well lived. He was our world, our universe. I need to be so thankful that he was my father but right now, I am destroyed. This is so much harder than I thought. Thank you God for giving him a peaceful departure surrounded by his family.

It’s time to tell you all the situation with my father, Al Stix Sr. Many of you know his health in the last year or so has been going down hill and for those of you who saw him at the airport for lunch on November 1st, you probably figured out that while he was having fun, enjoying the music, and seeing everyone, it was a bit of a struggle for him to even be there. But he loves the airport and I think you know he cares a lot for all of you who have been so supportive of the ...airport through the years. He has been in the hospital all week and he decided, and my mom agreed, it was time to come home. He is having difficulty breathing and talking is a struggle so please, no phone calls. Of course Covid19 means that we can not safely have any visitors to the house making this a very difficult time for our family and his many friends. I understand that for some of you all this will come as shock because he always seems to beat the odds and bounce back. He was at work a week ago last Friday so the present situation is a bit of shock to all of us as well. We do not know how much time he has left but clearly, it is growing short. But his mind is still working fine and if you would care to say a few words I will be happy to read them to him and I’m sure he will be happy to know you are thinking of him. A funny story? Post a photo? Maybe the time he yelled at you for taking both entrees at lunch? Something he did to help you or make you laugh? Did you enjoy the parties or some of his crazy drink concoctions? You can post a comment here if you like or you can email me directly at [email protected] and I will relay the message to him. On behalf of my family I want to thank you all for your support in the past and into the future. Keep em’ Flying!
