Tubby Fruits Peach Orchard

The 2020 growing season is over for Tubby Fruits. Thanks to all our great customers/friends who make it possible. All we have left are green tomatoes. If you would like some green tomatoes, please feel free to text me (913)851-7414. We use green tomatoes to make chow-chow and green tomato bread. It's a quick bread. I know green tomato bread doesn't sound delicious, but it is. We've made it for years. We puree green tomatoes, freeze the puree and then bake green tomato... bread throughout the winter. I'll take a picture of those two recipes and post them in the following Facebook post. In the meantime here is a nice picture my helper took of a sunset on our newly built peach terraces. Btw, there have been several folks interested in purchasing some peach trees. Normally we have some extra grafted trees we sell in the spring. However, since we decided to expand the peach orchard this spring, we may not have many extra trees. If you want to plant a peach tree this coming spring, and we don't have much available, please feel free to contact me and I will give you some names of some reputable nurseries which sell peach trees and give you some variety recommendations as well. In case anyone is interested, we are doubling our peach production. First step is getting the ground ready for more peach trees. Peach trees require a raised planting in this area, in order to thrive.

Hi Folks, We have been a bit behind picking tomatoes, but plan to be out picking again tomorrow (Tues, Oct. 20). I expect to have lots of tomatoes ready. We've been so busy lately building terraces to plant more peach trees for the last couple weeks, we have neglected our tomato picking a little bit. But we finally finished the terraces today. We now have enough capacity to double our peach production. We rented a motor grader to build more terraces. Here is a pic of me next to the grader. I'll also try to attach a couple videos of me using the machine, in a couple posts following this one. But remember, if you want some more tomatoes before the fall freezes come in, please text me, so we can get you some before Jack Frost dances on the plants.

We picked loads of tomatoes today. If you would like firsts or canner tomatoes tomorrow, Wednesday, then please text me to arrange to pick up some tomatoes. Canner tomatoes are half price with a 25 lb. minimum. No minimum on number 1 tomatoes, but they are regular price. My cell is 913-851-7414. Thanks! Mark

Hi folks, Just wanted to give an update. So peaches are done for the season. Our summer apples are done. Upick thornless blackberries are done (actually in July). Of course sweet corn is done. We still have some tomatoes left, but not a lot. At this late stage, we are only picking about 50 lbs. of tomatoes every other day. If you would like some slicer tomatoes, please send me a text, and we can set up an appointment for you to pick some up. We probably won't be able to fill all orders, but will do the best we can. Wanted to give an update on tomatoes. Several folks are waiting on tomatoes. They have been ripening super slowly. We still have lots of green tomatoes, but with the cool weather, they don't advance very quickly. If you would like to get on our "tomato list" please send a text, as I work off that list (913-851-7414). Also, if you want to can tomatoes, please text me for that as well. Our canner tomatoes are smaller and may have cracks. Canner tomatoes are 1/2 price, but require a 25 lb. minimum. There is no minimum for our regular number one slicer tomatoes. Here are a couple pics I took yesterday.
