Hello, This coming Sunday, January 10, please join me in honoring and celebrating the life of Carolyn Huber, who was the original host of The Mulberry Tree for 26 years before retiring in 2009. She passed the torch to me that year, and now 11 years later, Carolyn has passed away, and it's time to give her a fitting acknowledgement and musical sendoff. Below are the musicians and songwriters who will add magic to Carolyn's tribute show. The list includes the Wailin Jennys ...who are highlighted in this week's sneak peek playlist video with "The Parting Glass," a traditional tune performed flawlessly in three-part harmony. You can find that song on the Wailin Jennys’ album 40 Days. *UPDATE* There was an error in programming and last Sunday’s show with the boat theme ended up repeating tonight. I will try to air the below referenced show in the near future. Hello,... On Sunday, December 13, I've got four songs ready for my first set that were written by John Lennon. I do this in acknowledgement of the 40th anniversary of his passing. It's amazing to think he would be 80 years old today. This week's sneak peek playlist video is a wonderful video of songwriter Shelby Lynne performing the title track to her release "Revelation Road." SAVE THE DATE: Please join me on Sunday, January 10 to honor Carolyn Huber, former host of The Mulberry Tree for 26 years prior to handing it over to me in 2009. Carolyn passed away December 5 after a long illness. I will dedicate the entire program that evening to her memory and air some conversations we had plus tracks from some of her favorite songwriters and musicians. The Mulberry Tree 15.11.2020

In August of 2009, I received a call from Carolyn Huber offering me the opportunity to host The Mulberry Tree as she was retiring. She was a fan and supporter of my own music, and felt I had the female voice and potential she was seeking. I gave it some thought, and decided to give it a shot. KSMU asked me to present a pilot program with a slightly revised format, and a few weeks later I received the call that the show was officially in my hands. Here, 11 years later, we s...ay goodbye to Carolyn. She paved the way, then let go gracefully in the interest of keeping the music alive. Carolyn passed away on December 5. Rest her soul after a life well lived. I will be presenting a special edition of The Mulberry Tree on Sunday, January 10 to honor Carolyn. It will air its regular time, 9-10 pm Central. Please join me in acknowledging this fine person. Here’s a fitting acknowledgment of Carolyn from Frank Schmidt. Thank you, Frank. See more
