Purity Apothecary will NOT be open on Monday. It would be irresponsible and disrespectful to our neighbors. We will re-open once two weeks have passed after the official CDC and WHO recommendations say things improve (whichever is more conservative and science-based). Human life matters more than money. Recommendations to re-open the state cited economic and not scientific reasons, so we decline to participate in harming the community in favor of economic stimulus. We trust ...that you’ll come in to support us when this is over. Admittedly, it is hard to keep the bills paid with the doors closed. If anyone wants to be a patron of the shop until we open, we’ll welcome the support and set you up with a terrific self-care package as a thank you. In the meantime, take care of each other, wear a mask when advised, practice self-care, check in on your loved ones. Times of adversity are opportunities to practice tolerance and compassion, and we have a responsibility to remain closed while it’s unsafe to open. If you’re bummed that we’re not open, please do me a favor and register to vote, and promise to vote. The failure to properly handle a preventable pandemic lies squarely on the shoulders of politicians who fail to lead, and it’s our responsibility to hold them accountable. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s important to look out for ourselves and the community. Purity Apothecary will be closed until we’re on the downswing of coronavirus cases, and this public health crisis is contained. As many of you know, We recently expanded shop hours, painted the shop walls, and added two new part time artists to the shop. It’s disappointing and frustrating to shut down with so much excitement around the shop, but it’s the right thing to do. I value peo...ple over money. This weekend, I’m virtually meeting with some new artists and working out spring and summer events. This is not a goodbye, it’s a reminder that we need to take care of ourselves and each other. It’s a reminder to call your representatives and stay politically involved. Bad policy, incompetence, and greed at the federal and state level hurts already vulnerable small businesses. This was entirely preventable, and we must hold our elected officials accountable in November.
