Phoenix Family would like to thank the BOKF Foundation for their generous $1,000 grant to support Phoenix Family’s general operations. This much-appreciated support will ensure that families in our community remain safe and secure in their homes, that seniors maintain access to health services, and that children receive the extra attention they need to graduate high school. Today, we thank BOK Financial and the BOKF Foundation for bringing us one step closer to the day when everyone reaches their full potential. Thank you, Bank of Oklahoma!

Due to Covid-19 many of our seniors at Phoenix Family will not be able to gather with their family and friends this year for Thanksgiving. Although the community rooms are still closed, you can still help make sure that everyone receives a warm holiday meal by delivering each household a pre-packaged Thanksgiving meal. We need your help more than ever. We are looking for volunteers to help deliver meals with Phoenix Family staff throughout the month of November. We are takin...g every precaution to keep everyone safe, including requiring masks, sanitation stations, health screen questionnaires, and following CDC guidelines. You will brighten their day during this tough time, even for the brief moment you drop of their meal. Visit the Thanksgiving calendar to see all dates and times here: https://phoenixfamily.secure.force.com/GW_Volunteers__Volun

With so many community rooms still closed due to COVID-19, many of our seniors have felt isolated in their rooms. Luckily, Ms. Heather came up with a great idea - a mobile coffee cart! The residents at Cathedral love to have a weekly coffee chat where they catch up with one another, talk about the news and community, but COVID-19 has made that almost impossible. So last week Heather took her cart around and was able to connect with her residents. The smiles were abundant! ... Everything has changed because of the pandemic, but we are still here, finding new ways to connect with our residents and make sure they still have access to the resources they need - even if it's just a little conversation so they don't feel so lonely.

Another big round of applause for The Flo Harris Foundation of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City! They recently gave a $2,500 grant to support our kids on their journey toward becoming better readers in our HIKE afterschool literacy program. Today, we thank The Flo Harris Foundation for bringing us one step closer to the day when everyone reaches their full potential. Thank you, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Kansas City!

Mr. Reggie was so happy this week. This week he voted. At 72, Mr. Reggie has seen many elections and has been very engaged. He faithfully votes in every election and stays up to date with what is going on in the world. ... Because of his compromised health, and motor skill complications from a stroke, he reached out for help with getting an absentee ballot this year. After filling it out, he encouraged his neighbors to get their votes in too, and can be heard through the halls asking his friends about their voting plans and telling them, "Our voices count!" We are so proud to have passionate people like Mr. Reggie living in our community and encouraging others to stay engaged!
