When I started attending C.O.P.S. programs I was 11 years old, after having lost my dad in 2012 when I was 10. C.O.P.S. programs in general have brought me so much comfort and have given me new levels of friendships. I will forever be thankful for these relationships in a way I can't even put into words. I know I will always have someone that is a phone call away at all times. As stubborn as I am, I have to admit that counseling is actually helpful in the sense that we get t...o hear everyone’s stories. We then realize that we all have something in common. My pain and grief are turned into an experience that I can use to relate to so many others. You never really know how many survivors there are that can relate to you and care about you until you walk into the room. It’s like stepping into a wave of comfort to know that there are others who get you and what you are going through. To know that you are safe, and you are not alone by any means is by far the best feeling and the reason that I continue to attend Young Adults Camp. As we end 2020, a year where it was easy to let negativity take over our thoughts, C.O.P.S. wants you to focus on reasons to be grateful. In the comments below, tell us what you are grateful for and let the positivity spread! Let's start 2021 with hope, healing, and an uplifting outlook together! Don't forget to check in with survivors that you know during this holiday season. Lean on your C.O.P.S. family for support!
