Teachers impact students’ lives in tremendous ways and truly change lives. But we are currently facing serious staffing shortages in the teaching profession, an...d have been for years and there is every reason to believe that COVID-19 may only exacerbate the issue. To help address this issue, DESE embarked on a campaign to encourage Missouri students to consider pursuing a career in education. We’re thrilled to share this brief 90 second video as part of this campaign, featuring Darrion Cockrell, a.k.a. Mr. DC, Missouri’s 2021 Teacher of the Year. Mr. DC talks directly to students about the incredible opportunities available to those in the teaching profession. Join DESE and share this video with educators and families so they can show it to their students today! Link to video: https://vimeo.com/554254245 Special thanks to Mr. DC and the team at Lindbergh Schools for their production assistance!
