We understand many have seen the media coverage of late concerning the finances related to our festival. Here is our latest statement on the matter: At the Amer...ican Jazz Museum, we are proud to be a presenter of jazz music and deeply value the hard-working people who make their living as jazz musicians. These artists bring life to our venues and ensure a promising future for jazz music and our city. The artists who honor us by performing on our stages are important partners and collaborators in the work that we do. Unfortunately, some issues surfaced at this year’s Kansas City Jazz and Heritage Festival that impacted some musicians who performed at the event. We have rectified these issues and all artists have been compensated for their performances. We are working to schedule a forum for musicians to voice their concerns about this year’s festival and are eagerly looking forward to our 2018 KC Jazz and Heritage Festival.

We've scheduled our Musicians Forum for August 14. Please help us spread the word to all musicians interested in participating in this important conversation with us.

The sun is shining on 18th and Vine right now! We have been working sound checks in around rain showers and plan to move forward for a great Saturday at #KCJazzFest! The Blue Room and Gem Stages are indoors and will not be disrupted by rain or thunderstorms. Outside on the Main Stages and the KC Showcase Stage, artists will peform as scheduled unless disrupted by rain.
