Forget Me Not Furnishings 28.05.2021

Remember that awesome buffet I've been working on all week??... Finding a piece to fix the broken leg proved to be harder than I anticipated so I decided to create my own piece to repair it. The ladies at Michaels probably thought I was crazy as I tried to explain what I was trying to accomplish! Anyway, I got some molding putty, pressed it around one of the good legs, cooked the mold then filled the mold with Bondo, let it dry then peeled the mold away from the Bondo. It definitely isn't prefect yet, BUT I now have something to work with to make it fit perfectly on that broken leg that is front and center!

I wish my dinky phone could take pictures to give this hutch some justice! This is when having a skill of photography, or at least a nice camera, would have come in handy Anyway, this is my great grandma's hutch that my mom has always had in our house. It was a pretty cherry wood, but it somehow got a nasty water stain that couldn't be fixed so refinishing it was the best option. I used General Finishes Coastal Blue for the whole piece then I used Van Dyke glaze in the det...ails and the back to give it some dimension without distressing. I kept the original hardware because those are the handles my great grandma used! Her sweet hands touched opened those same drawers and cupboards and I couldn't get rid of them!

My first mantle redo! My parents are getting custom bookshelves built for both sides of the mantle and before those could go in, it needed a makeover! So much brighter and it flows with the room so much better
