It’s Thankful Thursday and Carroll County Memorial Hospital has a couple of local shout outs. In late February, Carrollton McDonald’s offered Free Muffins to healthcare workers in honor National Muffin Day. Our staff thanks you for that sweet treat. Also, a sincere thank you goes to our staff at CCMH. In honor of American Heart Month, donations were collected for six dress down days and donated to the CCMH Foundation. The efforts raised $587 for the Foundation and the funds will be directed to the need of CCMH’s Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Organize a scavenger hunt for Halloween-themed things at home. Carve and decorate pumpkins with people you live with. If you’d like to carve with neighbors and friends, do so outside and at least 6 feet apart. Show your best Halloween costume to your friends and family via video calls and photos. https://bit.ly/33WSfSr

Carroll County Memorial Hospital wants to congratulate all our youth this week as they wear their red ribbons stating "I Am Drug Free!" Red Ribbon Week, which is celebrated annually October 23-31, is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Red Ribbon Week was started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique Kiki Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating ...in Mexico. As a tribute to SA Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano and Congressman Duncan Hunter, created Camarena Clubs and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their oppositions to drugs. In 1988, the National Family Partnership coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week with President and Mrs. Reagan serving as honorary Chairpersons. Since then, the Red Ribbon campaign has taken on national significance, and NFP continues to coordinate the campaign for families, schools and communities across the nation each year. Wearing red ribbons during the month of October continues to represent our pledge to live drug free and honors the sacrifice of all who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs. We encourage you to take the pledge and Live Drug Free!
