Thank you to all of the artists who participated in the September 5th, Art on The Block event and lent their creativity to helping Kansas City heal while shining a light on the inequities of society. Artist, Michael Toombs shared a word with us on the importance of access to capital for Black creative-entrepreneurs. If you look back in the history of American culture, you’ll find that a lot of significant accomplishments were because of African-Americans. That’s why Black matters. What we know and what we’ve learned in our lives, is that with what God has given us as talent, it’s important that we are able to share that in this society just as everyone else does. How can we do that if we are not supported, nurtured and invested in?

We commend all of the artists and volunteers who brought the #KansasCity #BLM murals to life. This work reflects our mission, values, and commitment to community so AltCap, @ccfkansascity and Equity2 are proud to support each participating artist with a $500 grant from our organizations.
